My grandma used to watch roller derby on TV, & I was surprised at its resurgence in my adulthood. What happened to it in all those years in between?? The Oly Rollers, our local team, is even doing a boot camp! (see olyrollers-dot-com)

The last time David and I went out on a story together, I swore I'd bring along a camera so that I could catch him at work. Alas, I forgot it for the Providence trip. So you'll just have to take my word for it when I say that you haven't lived until you've seen David Kidd lying prone in the middle of a stretch of asphalt as a dozen roller-derby women wheel about at high speed an inch from the end of his lens.

The women we talked to all attested to the resurgence of roller derby. There was a guy there who'd come down from Boston to help coach, and people show up at the Providence rink from far
beyond Rhode Island.

My cousin is part of a roller derby ladies group, they have a great time. Of course this sport is for the young and in shape.
